MIDAS News
The MIDAS project marked its official start by gathering 70 scientists, legal experts and industry representatives for a kick-off meeting just outside London. Spanning 4 days from 12-15 November 2013, the meeting covered the detailed planning and execution of the project, and covered all aspects of the work plan from basic data collection to statekholder engagement and the communication of project results to policy makers.
From 1 November 2013, the MIDAS project is officially under way! The project will run for three years and pull together expertise from the marine sciences, maritime law, policy circles and extractive industries to look at how deep-sea mining activities will impact the marine environment, and how these impacts can be avoided or mitigated.
