From 11 March until 30 April 2015, MIDAS scientists will be onboard RV Sonne (right) to investigate biological communities living on the nodule fields across the Clarion Clipperton Fracture Zone in the central Pacific. During the EcoResponse cruise  - Ecology, Connectivity and Resilience of Polymetallic Nodule field Systems (SO 239) - led by the Senckenberg Institute, several ISA licence areas in the Clarion Clipperton Zone will be visited to assess the biological and geological responses to mining-related disturbance.

The team on board RV Sonne are keeping a cruise blog - you can read about their progress at http://www.oceanblogs.org/eadsm/. There is also a separate blog on the Senckenberg Institute website (in German) at http://www.senckenberg.de/root/index.php?page_id=5208&id=35
